Ice And Void Gauntlet Combination Guide (Patch 1.3.4)
Both of these Gauntlets are mid-ranged mana using weapons. Ice Gauntlet has the strongest crowd control abilities and area of effect damage, applies rend and slow to the enemies, providing some utility with Entombed.
Void Gauntlet can be used as a melee weapon, mid-ranged weapon, and as a supportive weapon for buffs, debuffs, and healing. Applying Oblivion and then casting Ice Storm and Ice Shower synergizing great.
The Void Gauntlet also has a special way to recover Mana called Harvest Essence. Holding Block will convert 10% of your life into 20 Mana until youâre below 20% of your health. This ability doesnât count as damage, so you can regenerate your health with food while converting.
Their weakness is only lacking movement skills.
Attributes
Both those Weapons scale mainly with Intelligence, so focus on obtaining as much Intelligence as possible to unlock passive skills on 50 points breakpoints.
The Void Gauntlet is the only weapon currently in New World that scales with both Intelligence and Focus. While both Intelligence and Focus increase the weapon damage, only Focus will scale its healing effects.
Youâll receive pretty close numbers of healing using a build with 200 Focus or 200 Intelligence, more about Focus scaling youâll find below.
First of all, you need 200 Intelligence since then you get the 10 mana after a dodge. You’ll get used to a playstyle where you’re dodging very often and this is one of the best ways to regenerate mana, especially in earlier stages of the game:
Constitution is a decent secondary Attribute, especially for PvP, 50 points will be enough to unlock 20% effectiveness to all health consumables, but you can get those 50 points with your gear or using +40 Consitution food:
Min-maxing your character for endgame PvP, you can also reach 200 Constitution breakpoints for a 20% armor increase:
Builds For Ice Gauntlet
For more information, you can check our Ice Gauntlet Guide.
1. Thereâs one go-to standard build for most PvE and PvP situations, leveling, expeditions:
You can take the Refreshing Frost to reduce the cooldown of the abilities by 20% while standing in the frosted area, or Strengthened Tomb, which will increase your defense by 25% for 3 secs after breaking out of Entombed. Note that you have to do the breakout option to get the buff.
2. Ice Pylon build is also possible. It fits great if you use Ice Gauntlet as a supportive weapon and then switch to Void Gauntlet or Life Staff, for example:
For PvP, especially pairing with Void Gauntlet, you might want to take Heavy Freeze to continue Petrifying Scream Root.
3. Ice Spike is a one-shot build that can be very strong if you manage to hit the target with Mighty Spike. Using Void Gauntlet with Petrifying Scream makes this build much easier.
Since the 1.3.4 patch the projectiles fired with Spiky Reach have a lower chance that a single target will be hit with all 4 parts of the attack.
Heavy Freeze is also an option. You can root enemies with Void Gauntletâs Petrifying Scream and then hit them with Ice Spike.
Builds For Void Gauntlet
For more information, you can check our Void Gauntlet Guide.
1. This build uses Void Gauntlet mostly as a supportive weapon:
Essence Rupture combined with Oblivion gives players an ability to empower allies and themselves, gives superior Stamina and Health regeneration while also punishing enemies rushing you. This is a great combination to support a Tank. Also, this can be used in PvP, cast Oblivion, and hold the enemies in it by Petrifying Scream.
Note, both of these skills – Oblivion and Essence Rupture – don’t go away if you swap your weapon. With Refreshing Precision, you can even reduce cooldowns of the other weapon abilities on critical hits standing in Oblivion.
2. This one is a ranged sustain build:
You might need some Focus points for it. With this build, it is possible to kite around your enemies using Orb of Decay and Essence Rupture to damage and heal at the same time, and cast Petrifying Scream if the enemies get too close.
You can take Mending Evasions instead of Refreshing Harvest, but it fits only for full Focus build, since 80% of weapon damage is not a high number.
3. A full support build paired with Life Staff mostly looks like this:
You donât have any attack bonuses, only healing, buffs, and debuffs. Certainly, this build fits only group play, mostly for PvE.
A key future of this setup is using three Oblivions in a row, in an almost a 20-second window. You start a fight with Oblivion, then use Orb of Decay, and then Essence Rupture. This gives you two stacks of Glimpse of the Void. After that, you use Harvest Essence, and a second Oblivion is coming soon. Repeat using Orb of Decay and Essence Rupture, get four stacks, perform a heavy attack, and you can throw the third Oblivion right away. Of course, wait before the previous Oblivion will fall since they donât stack.
4. An easy-to-go build with a full Annihilation tree becomes more popular. While Glimpse of the Void elite fits better for melee build to reduce cooldowns with Void Blade hits, itâs in the Decay skill tree, where there are not so many useful passives:
5. Melee build without Oblivion, but with Glimpse of the Void is also possible, but it fits for solo play only:
Oblivion gives amazing utility, roughly said, it gives the same effect as Baleful Tether, but gives it immediately and for all your allies too.
In this build, you have a great mana regeneration with Efficient Harvest and Tethered Focus, great survivability, but you have to wait for Baleful Tether stacking and can give only Essence Rupture as a utility for your group.
Gear
Light armor gives you +20% damage, +30% healing bonus, and the best amount of movement with a quick roll.
Medium armor will give you more protection, +10% of damage, +15% of healing bonus, and +10% of the length of the crowd control debuffs, but youâll not have a quick roll.
Heavy armor offers the best protection and +20% length of the crowd control debuffs for the price of lower mobility.
Also, you can combine different types of armor, light with medium, staying under 13 kg, or medium with heavy, staying under 23 kg. You can change your armor type by simply replacing 3 parts.
Maxed Medium Armor 22,9 lbs build (1L + 2M + 2H): Heavy Chest, Light Pants, 2 Medium and 1 Heavy piece.
Alternative Maxed Medium Armor 22,9 lbs build (2L + 1M + 2H): Heavy Chest, Heavy Pants, 1 Medium, and 1 Light piece.
Maxed Light Armor 12,7 lbs build (4L + 1M): Light Head, Medium Chest, Light Gloves, Light Pants, Light Boots.
Maxed Light Armor 12,6 lbs build (3L + 2M): Light Chest, Medium Pants, 1 Medium, and 2 Light pieces. If you need more in-depth information, how tankier you would be wearing a certain kind of armor of a certain Gear Score, feel free to use the New World Calculator by Mixed Nuts.
Armor Type | Light | Medium | Heavy |
Head | 1,5 lbs | 2,6 lbs | 4,7 lbs |
Chest | 3,5 lbs | 6,2 lbs | 11,0 lbs |
Gloves | 1,5 lbs | 2,6 lbs | 4,7 lbs |
Pants | 2,0 lbs | 3,5 lbs | 6,3 lbs |
Boots | 1,5 lbs | 2,6 lbs | 4,7 lbs |
Shields | 2,7 lbs (Round) | 5,4 lbs (Kite) | 11,0 lbs (Tower) |
Look for Armor with Intelligence or Focus depending on your playstyle or with Focus/Intelligence and Constitution if you need 50 points to unlock 20% effectiveness to all health consumables.
Since Void Gauntlet is an extremely flexible weapon, try every type of armor and choose whatever fits best for your own playstyle. You can change your armor for any kind of content type by simply replacing 3 parts.
Gems
The best Gems for both Ice and Void Gauntlets:
1. Cut Pristine Opal:
Since the intelligence attributes have a node that gives mana every time you dodge at 200 Intelligence, you will often find yourself on low stamina.
2. Cut Pristine Malachite:
Ice Gauntlet has the largest amount of crowd control abilities.
If youâre mainly fighting against one enemy type, for example, farming something, you can use to convert your damage:
1. Cut Pristine Ruby against Angry Earth:
2. Cut Pristine Sapphire against Corrupted:
Damage Effectiveness | Slash | Thrust | Strike | Fire | Ice | Nature | Void | Lightning | Arcane |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ancients | -15% | +20% | -40% | +15% | +30% | ||||
Corrupted | +20% | -15% | -40% | +15% | +30% | ||||
Angry Earth | +20% | -15% | +30% | -40% | |||||
The Lost | -15% | +10% | +15% | +30% | -30% | ||||
Beast | +20% |
Corrupted refers to enemies covered in a black and/or red glow. Corruption Breaches are the most common source of Corrupted enemies.
Angry Earth enemies are nature-themed enemies mutated with bark-like skin and similar nature-themed traits.
The Lost are glorified citizens and spectral enemies that inhabit most of Aeternum’s ruined towns, farms, and cemeteries.
Beast refers to any of the wild animals that roam around the New World’s various zones. Wolves, Bears, and Lynxes are just a few enemies that fall under this category.
For Armor Gems, you can use Cut Pristine Emerald for PvP, while fighting mostly against Bow and Musket users:
If youâre already level 60 and farming chests or mobs for gear, you need a Lucky Gem:
For other situations to provide generic damage absorption:
1. Cut Pristine Onyx:
2. Cut Pristine Malachite:
3. Cut Pristine Diamond:
Equipment Perks
1. Armor Perks
If you want to read more about specific Armor Perks, you can check our Void Gauntlet and Ice Gauntlet Guides.
Deadly Frost:
Simply the best damaging perk at the current moment, synergizing greatly with Frigid Showers, which apply 10% Rend, decreasing enemies defense by 10%.
Unending Thaw:
Putrefying Scream:
This Perk is great for PvP since it is one of the few ways to reduce healing. At Gear Score 600 youâll get a 50% reduction.
Voracious Blade:
This perk is nice overall if you are using Void Blade. It scales up to 30% at Gear Score 600.
Nullifying Oblivion:
This perk is being changed from patch to patch. Extremely useful in PvP, to cancel all the healing effects.
Refreshing with Resilient could be a versatile choice:
Refreshing Evasion is useful if youâre dodging a lot:
Physical Aversion is useful for PvP against Musket and Bow users:
2. Weapon Perks
Keen and Vicious are still a strong pair of go-to perks:
If you cannot find them, Keenly Empowered can also add more damage:
Siphoning Blow is an impressive utility option:
You can also go for Lifestealing if you want to gain health back on hit:
For PvP against healers, you can use Plagued Crits. The maximum amount of healing decreasing is 24% for GS 600 weapons:
3. Amulet Perks
Slash Protection and Thrust Protection cover most PvE and PvP incoming damage:
Health and Mana Recovery are nice, generally applicable options to fill the last slot:
Divine will give you more healing:
If you really want to heap on the defenses, Fortified Recovery grants a fairly strong 30% Fortify for 5 seconds when hit below 50% health, but has a 90 cooldown for the effect:
4. Earring Perks
Focused is a strong option for helping with Mana regen, with Mana Toast being a pretty close second:
Purifying Toast and Refreshing Toast are both great utility options for open-world PvP where health consumables tend to be used more. These all also help in PvE as well:
Beloved and Evasive can both help you mitigate aggro, making you less likely to pull aggro in expeditions:
5. Ring Perks
Keen Awareness is a strong option for higher burst damage potential, and Void Damage is a small damage boost in general:
Sacred is the best perk if you want a bit of extra healing:
Refreshing is also a decent Utility with the lowered cooldowns, but thatâs also available on armor:
Brillant also could be a good choice if youâre running out of mana fast:
Thrust Protection can be useful against Bow and Musket users:
Hearty will add you enough Stamina for one more additional dodge. If the player has 109.5 total stamina and each dodge takes 40 stamina (with 150 Dexterity attribute bonus), there is a possibility to dodge twice (leaving the player at 39.5 stamina), then, wait a fraction of a second for stamina to regenerate to 41, and then, dodge twice more for a total of 4 dodges:
You can also go for Leeching if you want to gain health back on hit:
Healing Bonuses
Healing bonuses come in two forms, which we generally refer to as âoutgoingâ bonuses and âincomingâ bonuses.
1. Bonuses to outgoing healing mean that any heals you cast will benefit from those bonuses. Even if you cast on yourself, you will benefit from outgoing bonuses, because YOU are still the caster;
2. Bonuses to incoming healing meaning any heals you receive. For these bonuses, you donât have to cause the heal, you just have to be affected by it;
3. Disease also falls into the incoming healing category but applies a negative effect instead of a bonus.
Outgoing healing bonuses for Void Gauntlet affect:
1. Orb of Decay and Overflowing Essence (not the regular Essence Rupture, only the explosion at the end);
2. The âHealthy Toastâ earring perk (probably a bug since outgoing healing doesnât affect other potions).
Sources of outgoing healing for Void Gauntlet include:
1. 150 Focus Perk;
2. Weapon Perk: Blessed;
3. Ring Perk: Sacred;
4. Rally (Diamond slotted in weapon).
Incoming healing bonuses for Void Gauntlet affect:
1. Everything that makes your health go up, including potions and lifestealing.
Sources of incoming healing for Void Gauntlet include:
1. Necklace Perk: Divine;
2. Disease (negative effect).
Focus Scaling
Currently, Void Gauntlet heal refers to âx% of weapon damage.â This is only true if the caster has 5 Focus. The more Focus the caster has, the more incorrect these tooltips become.
Void Gauntlet has 65% Focus scaling for damage, but still benefits from 200% Focus scaling when it comes to healing.
This means Void Gauntlet heals scale three times harder than they should, making 300 Focus VG heals twice as strong as the game would indicate.
Note* Even though Intelligence will cause your Void Gauntlet weapon damage to increase, your Void Gauntlet healing does not increase from raising Intelligence.

Consumables
In this chapter, you can find information about endgame consumables because you donât really need most of them on low levels. You can easily find the low leveled versions of them because the names only differ by one word, except food.

I know that feeling, bro, even one Flint or Green-Wood must not be discarded.
FAQ
Currently, this is one of the meta PvP builds due to its best combination of survivability, crowd control, and damage. In PvE, this build is also potent, especially in AoE.
Void Gauntlet to cast Oblivion and Petrifying Scream, or recover health with Void Blade. Ice Gauntlet is the main source of the area of effect damage.
Intelligence for more damage and some points in Constitution for surviving.
This build is mostly about high mobility and damage, so light (for PvE) or medium (for PvP) armor is recommended. Though, you can try heavy armor to increase the length of your crowd control effects and more survivability, or mix different armor parts and find armor combinations that fit your own playstyle best.
